An introduction to Dovetail and what we offer

Situated within Dunaverig Rural Enterprise Park, close to Stirling you will find just about everything you need to complete most projects, in one place. From flagstones, stonewalling, and architectural stone features (www.tradstocks.co.uk) to feature and structural timber beams, fire surrounds & mantles, kitchens and furniture to sand blasted stone slate or timber signs, finishing any project off with a touch of class.

We specialize in handmade kitchens and furniture produced from locally sourced hardwoods and a few softwoods which we cut and dry ourselves.

We design and build all of our own furniture and kitchens from Scottish hardwoods, each piece we produce carrying our dove logo somewhere upon it. We strive for the highest degree of craftsmanship at all times and just as each tree is unique, so too is each piece we make.

With our recent move to larger premises and the acquisition of sandblasting and sign making equipment we can also offer specialist signs for both home and corporate situations. The additional yard space also allowing us to take on larger oak frame projects.

Our workshop facilities can produce skirting, facings or architectural features, in most Scottish timbers to suit any requirements.

The main features of Scottish hardwoods are their tremendous variation of colour, grain and natural markings. With appropriate maintenance our kitchens, furniture and oak frames will survive for generations to come, enhancing the value of your property and giving you pleasure on a daily basis.

Our workshop and showroom are always open during normal business hours for a visit should you wish to call in and check on the progress of your project while it is being created.

Invest in your environment!
For every tree we use we guarantee to replant 2 x 2.4m replacements.

General Enquiry Procedure

Over the past few years we have put together a format which leads a possible customer, from a general inquiry, through to having a fully designed and installed kitchen, piece of furniture or Post & Beam Frame. The process is fairly simple and addresses basic points at each stage of an enquiry. This quickly determines our mutual suitability e.g. price, timescale, design factors and materials.

Stage 1 An initial enquiry outlining your requirements, either by email or directly through our showroom / workshop will allow us to establish a basic timescale based on our order book at that time.

Stage 2 If the timescale is acceptable we will put together a simple concept sketch from the information you supply, for example a schematic of a kitchen. From this we can put a ballpark figure on the project.

Stage 3 If this figure is acceptable then a face to face meeting is set up to discuss the finer details of the design, materials and timescale.

Stage 4 It is necessary to obtain a detailed survey of the room within which the kitchen is to be built, or specific information required for a hi fi unit or bookcase etc. From this survey a detailed set of drawings are produced along with a final price, stage payment details and estimated timescale. The materials are also confirmed at this point e.g. granite, stone, slate or timber worktops, type of timber for the cabinets, handles etc It is at this stage that a payment is required to cover the time involved to complete this process. This will vary depending on the size of the project.

Stage 5 When completely happy with everything up to this stage a deposit is required, which is used to purchase, mill and dry the timber for the project and confirm the booking in the diary. It should be noted that this is non refundable.

Stage 6 When the timber comes out the kiln and construction begins, we tend to build an elevation at a time, fitting each when completed. Any final changes to the design are made prior to the construction of each elevation and once confirmed and started cannot be changed without additional cost.
